It’s official: T-Series is now the biggest YouTube channel in the world.
The popular Indian music video and Bollywood trailer channel reached over 100 million subscribers yesterday. Swedish gamer and content creator Felix Kjellberg (a.k.a. PewDiePie) is now in second place, with over 96 million subscribers.Â
According to The Independent T-Series”…beat PewDiePie to the landmark, having overtaken the Swedish YouTuber to become the most popular channel on YouTube earlier this year.“
The subscriber race has been somewhat controversial, with fans taking sides and supporting one channel over the other.
“I am really not bothered about this race. I don’t even know why PewDiePie is taking this so seriously. He’s getting his people to push him, promote him. We are not competing with him,” Bhushan Kumar, T-Series’ Managing Director, said to BBC’s Soutik Biswas.
While T-Series may be downplaying the “war” some fans are taking the feud seriously.
According to Wired, thousands of printers were recently hacked and printed messages encouraging people to follow PewDiePie.
