Coming up with fresh content for your Instagram Stories can be hard. It’s tempting to share shots of the same thing over and over (and over again) with your followers.
If you’re feeling like your creative juices have been running dry and can’t think of anything innovative to share, you’re in luck.
Instagram is testing yet another awesome new feature and we couldn’t be more excited for it to roll out.
Get ready for “Stop Motion,” a new feature that allows users to record moving Stories, without having to film any video content.
The news comes from reverse engineer Jane Manchun Wong (@wongmjane) who discovered developers are testing the new Story feature, and we couldn’t be more excited for it to be rolled out.
Instagram is working on Stop Motion mode in Story Camera
It currently allows up to 10 frames. Each frame will be posted as its own Story, but I hope they'll combine those into one pic.twitter.com/35TsO5CD8k

Wong says the feature only allow for ten frames, which will be posted as individual stories. But even this small amount opens up a variety of possibilities.
The feature is optimized for phone cameras or stationary cameras on tripods. Users will be able to move and rearrange the position of the object. Wong includes a demo video of how this would work within her Twitter feed.

You can overlay or ‘ghost’, frames to decide exactly how you want your next frame to be composed, not unlike how most animation works.
This feature could be used in a new way to display all angles of a product, or used to creatively show movement and actions in people.
In order to engage audiences most effectively, still photographs do not have the same impact as videos do these days.
The ‘Stop-Motion’ feature would also allow you to grab and maintain your audience’s attention without too much additional creative strain on you.
Needless to say, we can’t wait for this new feature to drop!
