The world mourned and grieved together last week at the news of the passing away of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Bryant in a tragic helicopter accident.
The two were accompanied by 7 others and were on their way to the Mamba Sports Academy when the helicopter crashed, the world came together and grieved the loss of a basketball icon and sent their prayers and thoughts to his family.
The tributes to Kobe and Gianna Bryant haven’t stopped as just last night the Burj Khalifa in Dubai lit up to honour them. As Ahmed Bin Sulayem, the Executive Chairman of Dubai Multi Commodities Center (DMCC), arranged for an image of Kobe and Gianna Bryant to appear on the Burj Khalifa.
“My deepest condolences to Vanessa Bryant, and the family of Kobe Bryant,” Sulayem said regarding the incident. “Number 24 will forever be with us. Here is to my greatest of all time.”
Sulayem is a long-time fan and friend of Kobe Bryant and he brought Bryant to Dubai in September 2013 during his first visit to the UAE.
The outside of Burj Khalifa was lit up with purple and gold lighting as well as an image of the Los Angeles Lakers legend, Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Bryant. The tribute of Burj Khalifa indicate Kobe Bryant’s impact in his 20 years in the NBA and the Lakers.
For there is a sadness that is tangible, felt all around the world at the loss of a father who had inspired many and a daughter whom he had loved dearly.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Bryant family during this difficult time.
