Relatively, this new update Instagram is introducing is a minor one as of now you can reply to a friend’s story with a GIPHY GIF. Instagram tweeted the exciting news to the public on the 5th of February 2020, as seen in the tweet below:

In order to send a GIF as a response to the story, you can run a search by keyword in the reply text box – social media Mat Navarra posted a video of the process (@thebkh):

So that’s the latest Instagram update as users now have another way to engage with Stories in a way that won’t become boring, tiring or overbearing. The recipients will have a ball with this new update as their inbox fills up with hilarious, original and intriguing GIFs.
Brand and marketing considerations could include GIF reply competitions, or prompts to come up and share GIF reactions based on the user’s Stories frames – also you can share the best ones while tagging the responders.
It could actually prove to be popular as it adds a different way to respond to Stories, according to Social Media Today.
If you want to try it out yourself, you’re going to have to update the application to the latest version – for example 127.0 on iOS. So get ready to get GIPHY with Instagram’s new update!
