Adding Website Links To TikTok Accounts: It Might Be Happening Sooner Than You Think

For all those brands out there looking to create more short-form video (and prioritize tapping into Gen-Z) in 2020, we have some excellent news for you: TikTok is (reportedly) considering adding a new URL field into profile bios, according to Social Media Today.

This new feature would provide a means to drive traffic back to brands’ websites directly from the app.

This new update will be adding a custom link to the lower section of a user’s TikTok bio which will be highlighted in pink text, as spotted by user Sam Schmir.

This option would give both brands and creators a new way to direct traffic from their TikTok audience to their website – which could ultimately motivate more brands to establish a presence on the short-form video platform.

TikTok has already begun testing shopping links within their videos so the URL option in bios will be added to further boost TikTok’s business appeal. The short-form video platform is reportedly spending around $3 million per day on ads in the US as it seeks to maximize brand awareness and entice more advertisers across to its platform, according to Social Media Today.

TikTok is seeing a lot of hype and relevancy yet its user base is relatively small but it is rising quickly, according to a recent report from Similar Web.

With this new feature, brands will be making an appearance on TikTok as it will allow them to direct user and consumer traffic onto their websites. As TikTok is testing out the addition of website links to TikTok users’ profiles.
