Nothing is more frustrating than having to manage your workflow across multiple devices, especially if you spend the majority of your day starring at a single screen (i.e. your laptop) but need to communicating across a variety of messaging apps.
And while some apps, like Whatsapp, have desktop versions of their application, Facebook Messenger has only been accessible on smartphone and tablet devices – until now, that is.
The first announcement of the up and coming Messenger app for Mac was announced at Facebook’s F8 developer conference in May 2019, yet this week Facebook began launching the new Messenger application for macOS in selected markets in a way to provide another option to keep in touch with those internationally, according to Social Media Today.
At first the new Messenger app was initially spotted by a tech publisher MacGeneration in the App Store for Mac in France, according to 9 to 5 Mac.
The confirmation of the application’s initial launch with Facebook came from TechCrunch and it has also been reported that the Messenger app on Mac is officially available in Mexico, Poland and Australia, according to Social Media Today.
“People want to seamlessly message from any device, and sometimes they just want a little more space to share and connect with the people they care about most,” Facebook said when it first announced the app, according to Social Media Today.
“So today we’re announcing a Messenger Desktop app. You can download the app on your desktop – both Windows and MacOS – and have group video calls, collaborate on projects or multi-task while chatting in Messenger.”
Soon Facebook and Mac users will have the Messenger app available for them to download, this application could make it much simpler for users to communicate with their contacts and friends on Messenger through their own home computers as it would also allow them to share files directly from their harddrive, videos, images, etc.Â
However, as of now Facebook does not have a date set for its full launch of the Messenge application but the initial launch of the application is simply part of a small test says Facebook, according to Social Media Today.
