1.2 Million lights for sale on Burj Khalifa

The public can light up Burj Khalifa for Dhs10 to donate meals to coronavirus-affected communities in UAE

1.2 Million lights for sale on Burj Khalifa

Have you ever had dreams of owning a bit of Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world?

Well now’s your chance!

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), in collaboration with Burj Khalifa, launched the World’s Tallest Donation Box campaign to illuminate the iconic skyscraper’s 1.2 million lights in an act of solidarity that will raise donations to provide meals for hard-hit communities by the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic across the country.

For every light purchased on Burj Khalifa, a meal will be provided for someone in need in UAE.

This innovative way of charity aims to reinforce the UAE’s status as a global beacon of hope throughout the uncertain times brought about by this global pandemic.

The good will of the people will be recognized for all to see as Burj Khalifa’s façade will feature a real-time countdown of donations raised.

The World’s Tallest Donation Box supports the ’10 million meals’ campaign that was launched in April 2020 to provide food support to those directly or indirectly affected by the coronavirus pandemic in the UAE that left may facing unemployment and income reductions.

In the first week of its launch, the campaign exceeded its target after drawing massive financial and in-kind donations from companies, entities and the public to provide more than 11 million meals and food parcels.

Similarly, in May 2020 over 180,000 lights were illuminated on Burj Khalifa after donations flooded in during the first 24 hours of the campaign’s launch.
