A TikTok user who blew his nose on a DH500 note has been arrested by Dubai police for “insulting the national currency”.
He is currently facing prosecution under the UAE’s ybercrime laws which carry a maximum financial penalty of Dh1 million.
Dubai Police shared an image of the TikTok user on their Twitter platform.

His name was not shared however the account which released the video belongs to BQ Productions which often shares video content on TikTok.
The video has since been deleted.Â
Dubai Police has reiterated that those who insult the “country or its reputation” on social media could face legal action.
