‘Reels’ allows users to record short, 15-second video clips, set to music or other audio, and then share them on the platform. Much like TikTok, Reels offers a set of editing tools that make it easier to shoot creative videos.
After launching exclusively in Brazil last year, Instagram announced it learned from this early test to rethink some key aspects to the Reels experience. Today the company announced it is launching a revamped version in France and Germany.
One of the main learnings is that the Instagram community wanted the ability to make sharing Reels easier and broader. In the original version, Reels could only be shared via Instagram Stories. In the revamped version, Reels are now fully integrated into the Instagram app, with their own tab next to the grid icon.
Reels are now also available in the Explore tab for public accounts. All in all, the new version offers more exposure for Reels and their creators as it gains its place withing the main Instagram app.
