On July 2nd Instagram took it upon themselves to remove Bella Hadid’s story for “violating community guidelines.” Instagram claims this story goes against their guidelines for harassment, bullying, graphic violence, or sexual nudity.
Bella fired back at Instagram saying “are we not allowed to be Palestinian on Instagram? This, to me, is bullying.” Bella went on saying, “you can’t erase history by silencing people. It doesn’t work like that.”
Bella reposted the same story of her father, Mohamed Hadid’s, American passport including his birth place of Palestine. She included the caption “do you want me to change his birthplace for you?” She encourages others to be proud of their history and their background.
This has to be the highlight of the year probably. Bella Hadid confronting Instagram for removing her story where she proudly shared her dads birthdplace being Palestine! And that she herself is a proud Palestinian pic.twitter.com/5PlMMJ6Dia

Bella Hadid has always been one to be proud of her Arab background. One of the many to use her platform to speak up about real issues, including the annexation of Palestine by Israel and the BLM movement.
Since then, Instagram has apologized to Bella Hadid and restored her stories. A Facebook representative claimed that posting personal information is forbidden. However, the passport number was blurred out, so the photo was in no way violating this rule.
The Hadids are very active on their social media platforms about giving back and helping communities. Based on previous posts family values are important to them, they are very close and supportive of each other.
Do you think Instagram should issue an apology to Bella?
