During this past weekend, Dubai hosted a record-breaking auction that raised Dh97.7 million through the sale of special license plates and phone numbers, including the world’s most expensive license plate in 2023. The proceeds from this auction went to the 1 billion meals initiatives by Dubai ruler HRH Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashed.

License Plates

The license plates featured at the auction included single and double-digit plate numbers including P7, the world’s most expensive license plate which sold for a whopping Dh55 million, breaking the previous record of Dh52.2 million. As well as  AA19, AA22, AA80, O71, X36, W78, H31, Z37, J57 and N4. The auction also featured other special plate numbers Y900, Q22222, and Y6666. The VIP plates raised a total of Dh91.59 million.

Numbers

Telecom giants Etisalat By e& and Du provided VIP Diamond+ numbers at the auction including 971548888888(sold for Dh2.3 million), 971565555500, 971568888887, 971565588888, 971565599999, 971547888888, 971542022222, 971564666664, 971545544444, 971566000006, 971583333333 (sold for Dh2 million) and 971562822222. These numbers are some of the most expensive and notable in 2023, raising a total of Dh6,330,000.

 “1 Billion Meals Endowment” Campaign 

The 1 Billion Meals Endowment campaign was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai, to establish the largest Ramadan sustainable food aid endowment fund in the world. The campaign seeks to tackle crucial issues such as hunger, which is a global challenge that threatens the lives of 828 million people around the world. The initiative plans to achieve its goals by reviving the culture of endowment which has been implemented in the region for hundreds of years and using it as a tool for development and sustainable charity in the modern world.

The campaign comes as a part of the UAE’s vision to become a major player in addressing global challenges and supporting humanitarian causes.

The “Most Notable Number” auction was held at the Four Seasons Resort at Jumeirah Beach and brought together a group of leading philanthropists, businessmen, and influencers including Saygin Yalcin, Ali Al Humoodi, and Badr Al Shammari to participate and bring light to the campaign.

The “1 Billion Meals” endowment continues to welcome contributions from all donors if you would like to give back this Ramadan, the endowment offers five different channels for you to do so. Donors can contribute through the campaign’s website (www.1billionmeals.ae), as well as a dedicated call center via the toll-free number (800 9999). Donations are also possible via bank transfers in the UAE dirham to the campaign bank account number with Emirates NBD (AE30 0260 0010 1533 3439 802). Donations via SMS give contributors the option to donate Dh1 daily through a monthly subscription, by sending the word “Meal” to 1020 for du users, or to 1110 for Etisalat by e& users. Those who wish to donate to the campaign through the DubaiNow app can do so by clicking on the “Donations” tab.
