Celebrating A Decade Of Love & Friendship
It has been ten years since Bollywood saw the magnanimous friendship of Naina, Bunny, Adi, and Aditi – the group who taught us everything about love, heartbreak, friendship, and chasing your dreams. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, a blockbuster in its own right, starred in the dynamic quartet of Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Kalki Koechlin.
Yesterday marked 10 years of that picture-perfect friendship and the cast’s brief reunion tugged right at our heartstrings!
With its excellent depiction of friends, family, relationships, and marriage, amazing music, start-studded cast, picturesque locations, and masterfully written lines, the movie was refreshing and appealing to the young crowd.
Ayan Mukerji, the director, pinned a heartfelt note and posted a touching video on Instagram reflecting on the film’s significance. He wrote, referring to the movie as his “second child,” emphasizing the strong bond he has with it. “Almost everything I experienced as a 20-year-old is packed into the film — ambition, romance, friendship,” he said.
In a separate Director’s Note, Mukerji described the movie as a synthesis of many interactions and obsessions. His goal was to depict the core of his characters’ lives, including their joys, sorrows, and quest for purpose. He wanted to capture these feelings and then display them to the audience, generating joy, happiness, fond memories, and a need for meaning.
What’s Next For The Cast?
Deepika is set to be seen in the pan-India film ‘Project K’ opposite Prabhas and in director Siddarth Anand’s action-packed thriller ‘Fighter’ opposite Hrithik Roshan.
Whilst, Ranbir is working on Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film ‘Animal’ alongside actors Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol. The film is set to hit screens on Aug 11.
