As Covid-19 lockdowns continue to affect people around the world, video game companies have recorded massive success as the number of gamers globally continue to rise.Â
The gaming industry has benefited majorly from lockdown orders as more people turn to video games to keep them entertained while indoors.
According to the BBC, Activision Blizzard and Electronic Arts, both major players in the gaming industry, have experienced financial success recorded in the first three months of 2020.
Activision Blizzard, the makers of Call of Duty, reported an average of 407 million people had played its games online each month in the first quarter of this year.
Additionally, ‘Warzone’ the latest game in the Call of Duty franchise, has garnered more than 60 million players since its launch in March.
In the report it is mentioned that, “Industry giants ranging from Microsoft to Steam have all reported major increases in user numbers, with US video game sales hitting the highest level in over a decade in March.”Â
Demand is expected to remain high while stay at home orders continue.
