While there had been a leak regarding the plans, Microsoft confirmed its new games plan on Thursday. The pricing has been revealed in Ireland and Colombia, where it will be having its test run. With the new subscription, users will be able to have up to four other people on their plan. These can be friends and family members as long as they are in the same country.
CEO of Microsoft gaming, Phil Spencer, explained “We are expanding choice in two ways: through the creation of Game Pass, which gives players a subscription option; and by bringing more games to mobile platforms, including through our cloud game streaming technology. Subscription services like Game Pass make gaming more affordable and help players from all over the world find their next favourite game.”
What are the new prices for Microsoft’s game plans?
The plan is currently at €21.99 per month in Ireland, and 49,900 COP in Colombia. People added to the Friends and Family plan are required to be in the same country, which means it is restricted to Ireland and Colombia as of now.
Microsoft has not mentioned pricing yet for other countries in Europe, the UK and US. It is, however, expected to range around $25 per month in the US for Xbox Game Pass Friends and Family.
The current Microsoft plan is at $9.99 per month for Xbox Game Pass or PC Game Pass. Unfortunately, these passes do not cover multiplayer capabilities. The Xbox Game Pass Friends and Family will allow the benefits of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for four other friends or family members.
