Four new artists were added to the list of performers for the MTV Video Music Awards this year. Alongside Lizzo and Harlow, Blackpink and Måneskin will be making their debut performance on the American Award Show.
It will also be the first time Blackpink gives their first-ever performance of the single “Pink Venom”. With the concept teaser out for the album, fans patiently waiting for the performance. The band’s member, Lisa, has also secured a nomination in the Best K-pop category as the first-ever solo female K-pop star and Korean soloist. Blackpink is set to have an eventful night at the VMAs with nominations and a big performance.
Måneskin, the Italian glam-rock band, will also be making a debut with a performance of their single “Supermodel”. The band rose to fame after winning second place at the eleventh season of the Italian X Factor in 2017. Måneskin has also secured two nominations this year: Best New Artist and Best Alternative.
Blackpink and Other Performers this Year
Lizzo will be returning with a performance this year after her debut in 2019. She has been nominated in four categories this year, including Artist of the Year and Song of the Year. The star will perform her song “2 Be Loved” this year.
Jack Harlow will also be performing at the VMAs. This will be his first solo performance on the main stage after the show-stopping duet with Lil Nas X last year. Harlow also leads with seven nominations at this year’s Awards. He is tied with Kendrick Lamar and Lil Nas X for the same number of nominations.
Billie Eilish, Drake, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd also have five nominations each this year. Doja Cat and Harry Styles are however at six nominations. With a star-packed guest-list for the evening, MTV Music Awards this year is expected to be a whooping success.
Performers for the VMAs 2022
The VMAs first announced Anitta, J Balvin, Marshmello x Khalid, Panic! at the Disco, and Kane Brown to be performing at the event. Nicki Minaj is also set to take the stage at New Jersey’s Prudential Center in Newark on August 28th. The list has gotten longer and more exciting after the recent addition of Blackpink, Måneskin, Jack Harlow and Lizzo!
Anitta will be making her VMAs main-stage debut this year. She also has a nomination under the Best Latin category. J Balvin’s return to the stage is also much anticipated by viewers this year. Balvin also has been nominated under the same category as Anitta.
The 2021 MTV Video Music Awards also had quite a number of exciting performers including Camila Cabello, Normani, Kacey Musgraves, Foo Fighters, Chlöe, Lil Nas X, and Justin Bieber. It took place at the New York’s Barclays Center in September.
