What to expect amid conflicting iPad rumors

Find out what Apple is releasing for its iPads this October

iPad rumors what to expect 2023

Over the past few days, many tech experts have suspected that Apple may have a surprise iPad update announcement in store for this week. Here’s a breakdown of what exactly the leaks and rumors are saying, and what to expect.

Latest rumors

According to 9to5Mac, Apple is expected to announce updates for three of its iPad models – the base model, the iPad Air, and the iPad Mini. Other rumors since then suggest that there won’t be any new tablets, and others speculate that the announcement could be about a new stylus or a new version of the tablets. However, we will have to wait a while longer to find out for sure.

New reports from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and the Japanese Mac blog Mac Otakara state that Apple may not refresh its tablet line in October like it normally does. Instead, it’s more likely that a third-generation Apple Pencil will be announced rather than new versions of the tablets.

Gurman said on Sunday, “I don’t believe updates of any significance are imminent,” while also mentioning Apple has versions of the iPads with new chips in development.

What to expect from the new iPads

The next-generation iPad Pro will reportedly have more eye-catching upgrades, including an OLED display, but that won’t come until 2024 at the earliest, according to Bloomberg’s Gurman. Other sources claim there will be no OLED display, but the display controller will be updated to address a jelly scroll issue.

Other features include the upgrade of iPad Air and Mini to M2 and A16 Bionic chips, respectively. While Apple refreshed the Air and 10th-generation tablets last year, it has been twice as long since the company updated the Mini with an A15 Bionic chip.

If accessories are getting an upgrade, it’s possible that the updated Apple Pencil could have interchangeable tips for different purposes and a USB-C connector for charging as per the changes in the iPhone 15 Pro. It has been five years since the release of the second-generation Apple Pencil, so it is time for an update to the stylus.

Official news is yet to be released. This means fans and users just need to be patient. Something new is coming… soon.
