As more social media conversations move from public feeds to direct messages (DMs), LinkedIn is expanding its messaging features in order to promote more professional connection and interaction through InMails in the app.
And this might be a significant development for LinkedIn as the platform has recently introduced a new feature that makes it possible for Company Pages to send and receive direct messages.
Users can now DM a Company Page to start a conversation in the app, and Page managers can reply on behalf of the Page to offer another opportunity for interaction.
According to LinkedIn, over 63 million businesses use the app’s Company Pages to actively post content. This highlights the potential of Page messaging as a connection and engagement option, as it may enable novel forms of direct interaction and open up fresh opportunities, especially for people looking for jobs and looking to learn more about the company.
With a greater number of people communicating with businesses to inquire about possibilities, major enterprises may need to exercise some management. However, sifting through such should be made easier by LinkedIn’s “focused inbox” approach, which includes dividing Direct Messages (DMs) depending on priority and subject settings for page messages. LinkedIn also gives companies the flexibility to turn off the Message option if they want to.
According to LinkedIn, the company page messaging rolled out yesterday.
