LinkedIn Scraps Creator Features In Latest Update

Farewell, Features: LinkedIn Drops Native Carousels, Profile Videos, and In-Image Links

LinkedIn

LinkedIn has covertly phased off a few creator features, including profile videos, carousel posts, and its in-image linking feature.

In a message to creators, LinkedIn provided a brief explanation of the changes.

As per LinkedIn:

“Thanks to your invaluable feedback, we’ve learned that some of our creation tools aren’t facilitating your ability to share all of your amazing experiences and expertize with your community. This includes carousels, profile video, and the ability to embed clickable links within the image or video of your posts. So, starting June 26th, we’ll be removing these tools, though your current posts will still be viewable.”

Carousel posts are likely to be amongst the biggest removal, as they help generate good levels of engagement for many users.

Before LinkedIn released a native carousel posting option in July of last year, users had been leveraging its PDF attachment feature to produce impromptu carousel postings with each page displaying as a separate, scrollable frame.

However, it appears that LinkedIn users haven’t taken to it, thus as of June 26th, LinkedIn will no longer offer the native posting option.

Therefore, you will need to go back to sharing PDFs and using each page as a frame for your quasi-carousel post if you wish to post non-ad carousels in the app.

Profile Videos

In 2021, LinkedIn started allowing profile videos, but they never really seemed to take off.

Last year, it added extra prompts for your profile video to assist users make better use of the option. The option allowed you to share a brief video clip that was linked to your profile photograph.

Evidently, that did not encourage increased uptake, therefore before the end of the month, that will also go extinct.

Finally, LinkedIn is removing the option it added in August of last year to include clickable links to photographs and videos in the app.

Even while it seemed to add yet another opportunity to send referral visitors back to your site, that also doesn’t seem to have gained much traction.

The third component of this feature evaluation, LinkedIn, is sinking that one as well, removing some of your posting possibilities.

Since you can still upload carousels using the PDF link method, none of them are likely to make a significant difference. However, some people will take these into account when using LinkedIn.

By June 26th, all three elements will be gone.
