Netflix pulls away from Will Smith’s ‘Fast and Loose’ after Oscars incident

The infamous Oscars slap did nothing but backfire on Will Smith.

You can say that the American actor is starting to pay for his actions. After the notorious slap that was witnessed by millions on live television, the #1 streaming service has decided to discreetly halt production on Fast and Loose, which was supposed to star Will Smith as its lead actor.

The film was expected to tell the story of a criminal who ends up losing his memory after an altercation, only to discover that he had been leading a double life as soon as he put the pieces together; however, that was all before the project fell through.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie’s director, David Leitch had also already given up the project a week prior to the Oscars’ ceremony in order to accept another offer; Leitch is now directing Fall Guy, a movie by Universal that will have Ryan Gosling at its center.

Smith’s other projects also took a hit after the unfortunate event. In spite of the fact that the actor had received 40 pages of the Bad Boys 4 script before the Oscars took place, Sony also decided to pause production. Nonetheless, we have yet to hear any update regarding his Apple + drama, Emancipation, which is already in post-production and set to release in 2022.
