Have you met an influencer, model, advocate, healthcare professional, and activist all rolled into one? Well, you haven’t met Rawdah Mohamed

Influencer: Rawdah Mohamed

About Her

Rawdah a Somali-Norwegian model renowned for her captivating street style, exudes an unwavering passion as a fervent advocate for the empowerment of Muslim women. In addition to her remarkable modeling career, she dons the role of an influential online presence, captivating audiences through her influential blogging endeavors.

Complementing her multifaceted pursuits, she also leverages her expertise as a healthcare professional, dedicating herself to serving others with compassion and integrity. Furthermore, she fearlessly embraces her activist spirit, channeling her energy toward driving positive change in society.

Rawdah Meets Fashion: Embracing Cultural Identity

She left her healthcare job in 2019 to try something different, and after going to the Oslo Fashion Week’s spring edition that year, she got her start in modeling. She joined up as a model in August after recognizing her unique looks and sense of style.

Rawdah is no stranger to clothes that makes a statement. She earned a modeling contract after first gaining popularity for sharing Instagram photographs of her unique street style. She approaches fashion with a playful, experimental mindset, whether it’s via understated prep outfits or a fresh take on the Canadian tuxedo. For her, more is more.

Rawdah was a social media influencer on Instagram before she started modeling, mostly showcasing her modeling. She eventually utilized her account to advocate for the rights of Muslim women in Europe and to touch on a number of important topics. Following France’s decision to forbid minors from wearing the hijab, she started the #HandsOffMyHijab campaign after experiencing prejudice over her headscarf and the color of her skin, particularly at school.

“It is our duty as the people to stand up and fight for each other’s rights. The hijab ban is hateful rhetoric coming from the highest level of government and will go down as an enormous failure of religious values and equality,” she stated.

In May 2019, Rawdah became the first hijab-wearing fashion editor of Vogue Scandinavia.

Today, she is a street-style model who emphasizes modest attire. Over the years, she has participated in a number of modeling projects that have prioritized Arab fashion.

Cannes 2023: Scorched Bride

Rawdah has made it her mission to make modest clothing look cooler. By demonstrating the hijab as a means of personal expression rather than restriction, she has skillfully chipped away at false perceptions about conservative fashion. She turned heads when attending the Cannes Film Festival in a Robert Wun couture costume that was not only an interesting modest gown but also one of the trendiest looks to walk the red carpet, bar none.

Trompe l’oeil scorch marks and flame-kissed edges can be seen on the double-sided satin dress and face-obscuring silk organza veil. The outfit is more reminiscent of a horror film heroine towards the climax of the film than standard red carpet wear. Wun describes the dress, as “The Scorched Bride”, which was featured in his spring 2023 Paris Fashion Week show in January.
