Recently, Instagram created a feature that allows users to fundraise on the app. Furthermore, the platform also made it so that parties can fundraise as a group, which may help raise awareness for the cause and reach larger audiences.
Instagram themselves explained, “Offline fundraising is often a group activity, from things like walk-a-thons, to bake sales, to concerts, and we wanted to bring that same sense of community to Instagram fundraisers so people can activate together around a single cause. 100% of the funds go directly to the nonprofit you’re raising money for, too.”
According to their stats, Instagram fundraises have helped raise over $5 billion.
Here are the steps to create a fundraiser on Instagram:
- Tap instagram-user-profile or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
- Tap Edit Profile, then tap Add Fundraiser.
- Tap Raise Money.
- Choose a cover photo from your Instagram posts or camera roll.
- Add a title, select your currency and the best category for your fundraiser, and enter a description.
- Tap Next in the top right, then tap Done.
Happy fundraising!
