3 Video Trends To Look Out For in 2018

Industry experts are constantly stressing the imporance of creating high-quality video content – especially if a brand or influencer is keen on tapping into a specific target market in 2018.

Video is one of the most powerful ways to capture a viewer’s attention. It’s more effective than a Facebook post or Instagram image, as a brand or influencer is able to tell their story by engaging with their audience’s visual and auditory senses.

But getting started can be tough.

There are so many different types of video formats and coming up with fresh ideas can be hard. It’s something that both brands and influencers grapple with, when attempting to churn out new content.

Stuck for ideas and aren’t sure what to film for a vlog?

We’ve rounded up three video concepts that all brands and influencers should consider in 2018. Check them out below and let us know your thoughts in the comments.

How-To Videos

Fun fact: how-to videos are the most popular kinds of videos on YouTube. They’ve been popular for a while now, and don’t appear to be going away any time soon.

While they’re not the most original of ideas, they’re a good starting point for a brand or influencer that may be looking to dip their toes into the world of vlogging.

Show your audience how to complete an action, use a product or fix a problem. You can also consider doing a parody video in “how-to” format, if you’re looking to get laughs out of your audience. On the other hadn, you can make it more informational and include statistics. “Hack” can also fall under this format.

Bottom line: get creative, find ways to help people out, and watch the views rack up.

“Feel-good” Videos

Feel good posts have become very popular on social media – so good that brands are catching on, and striving to create similar types of content.

So… what makes up a “feel-good” video? Anything that pulls on viewers’ heartstrings or creates a sense of nostalgia. An example would be Snapchat’s personalized summaries at the end of 2017 and Facebook’s friendship anniversaries.

“Feel-good” video content is a great way to use personalized storytelling to foster goodwill in consumers, while driving brand loyalty and creating a connection between brand and audience. Therefore, don’t be afraid to get a bit mushy with your audience.

Live Stream Videos

“Going live” isn’t going anywhere, any time soon.

Live-streaming video content is on the rise, and many brands and influencers are embracing it. While some video creators prefer to chat to their audiences while eating their dinner, brands need to discover other ways of using live video to reach their consumers.

Stuck for ideas when it comes to using live-streaming for your brand?

Try interviewing industry experts, showing off your product and/or services, or doing a live question and answer session. Consider announcing a contest or have an influencer do a live takeover/unboxing on Instagram Live.

Think outside the box, get creative and don’t be scared to interact with your audience live!
