With YouTube being one of the most used platforms on the internet, it is a highly efficient platform to advertise your campaigns. YouTube ads reach millions of people worldwide and have multiple demographics catered to. This guide will help you in creating your first YouTube campaign!
Here are the steps you need to take to advertise on YouTube:
Creating a new campaign
In order to create a campaign on YouTube, you need to first open up your Google Ads manager. Set your campaign objective and go on to select a new campaign. For your YouTube campaign, the campaign type needs to be set to Video.
Campaign subtype
Depending on your ad objective and format, you need to select your campaign subtype. If you have not decided upon these, you can always choose a custom video campaign. It is always possible to change this later.
Bid strategy
The bid options are dependent upon the campaign subtype, and only those according to your subtype will be shown to you. The bid options for the custom video campaign are Maximum CPV and Target CPM. There different types of bidding requirements are Target CPM, Viewable CPM, Maximum CPV, Maximise conversations and Target CPA.
Select your networks
Video networks can be deselected from your Display Network if you do not like Search partners. You might not be able to do so for specific campaign subtypes and bid strategies.
Content exclusions
A standard inventory will do for most ad campaigns. However, if you are someone who would like to control where the ads are seen, the limited inventory would be best suited to your purpose. The expanded inventory is best if you’re looking to gain as many views as possible.
Select your target
Fortunately, YouTube campaigns make it possible to select your target audience on Google Ads. This option is extremely useful as you are given a wide range of contextual options.
You can set your targets based on two categories: people and content. While people targeting allows you to select what you would like to reach with your post, content targeting focuses on the kind of videos with which you would like your ads to run next to.
Create your ad
The videos for your ad campaign need to be uploaded on YouTube. You can upload it as an unlisted video if you do not want it to be public. The URL of the YouTube ad should be entered in the Create your video ads section. Options appear depending on the campaign subtype.
Set your bid
Once you are done with creating an ad, you can go ahead and set your bid!
