This cooking hack can start a grease fire
A TikTok from 2021 recently resurfaced after an account on X, previously Twitter, named ‘Today years Old’ posted the video with the caption “I’m upset”. The video featured a cooking hack that requires the cook to turn their pan over to flip a sandwich, which is supported with a spatula.

The tweet has since gotten over 24 million views. The original video from 2021 has gained over 3 million likes, with even more views than the Tweet.

Since the resurfacing of the hack, more and more people have tried their hand at recreating the hack.
However, X users quickly took to the social media platform to inform users of the danger that can come from flipping a pan over an open flame. According to community notes on X, “flipping the pan will dump whatever grease is in the pan… into an open flame. This will cause grease fires”.
As the popularity of TikTok continues to grow, so does the number of dangerous hacks that circulate on the platform. It is important to be aware of these risks and to use caution when trying new recipes or techniques.
