There has been a lot of controversial news about Twitter at the moment with the Elon Musk takeover, job losses, and people being allowed back on the platform. However, aside from the dramas that are happening, there are some positives, especially from the initiatives Twitter is carrying out.
What are Coins?
Twitter is currently working on a feature called Coins which is quite similar to the one on TikTok, helping support creators on the platform to simply, earn money. The news was released by hacker Jane Manchun Wong who managed to see just part of the finished feature in action and shared her findings on Twitter itself.
She said “Coins allow you to support creators who Tweet great content. Unused coins are kept in your balance.” Wong also uploaded screenshots of the Coins menu taking you to the purchase screen showing the ease of use.

What about Crypto?
If your question is “can I use crypto to pay?” the answer is no – not yet. There has been no conversation about being able to pay with cryptocurrency, however, with the current times, this could launch on the platform soon. Despite Elon Musk’s love for Doge, Twitter will probably wait until everything is tested before he introduces crypto onto the social media channel.

When do I get paid?
According to Wong, creators and influencers will be allowed to bank their money when their balance reaches $50. This is when they can redeem their cash or leave it in to keep adding it up. It is a great way for Twitter users to see value in the platform rather than using it as a place to share their ideas. Now, they will ultimately get paid for tweeting valuable information that others enjoy reading, or seeing.
