YouTube has launched a new subscriber analytics tool to help creators improve their content planning. The tool provides insights into how many new and returning viewers a channel has, and what content those viewers are watching.

How to plan content with YouTube

YouTube’s latest analytics tool was announced some new analytics updates, including insight into which videos new subscribers are watching, and why other subscribers cancel their channel subscription, which could assist in your future planning and understand what content is more likely to appeal to a wider audience.

The app added a “New and Returning Viewers” tab which will provide creators with a space to analyze the performance of their content based on audience segments. The feature provides more context as to what’s driving views within each segment, which will give creators more planning context, and could be a key guide in their process.

Other analytical tools offer new data cards providing insight into channel memberships. They provide more context on total member counts, as well as which of your videos are driving more subscriptions. That’s another tool to understand audience behavior.

YouTube’s also adding a new card that will provide context as to why people choose to cancel their memberships.

The new analytics tool is available to all YouTube creators, and can be accessed from the Creator Studio. To use the tool, creators simply need to select the “Analytics” tab and then click on the “Subscribers” tab.

This information can be used by creators to create content that is more likely to appeal to their target audience. For example, if a creator sees that their new viewers are watching a lot of videos on a particular topic, they can create more videos on that topic.

YouTube is helping creators understand how to maximize their content performance as they continue to grow and expand their online presence, and these tools are a large part of that.
