YouTube introduces handles to make connecting and engaging with creators easier. Next time you want to share information about your channel, all you need is your YouTube handle. The platform will be rolling out the feature over the next few weeks, making it easy for the members of the community to interact with each other.

Creators use YouTube to build a community of people who have similar interests. The platform is where many content creators have found their niche through their subscribers and their feedback. YouTube handles will give creators the opportunity to create a unique identity apart from their channel name.

What difference will a YouTube handle make?

As the number of creators on the platform increases, it becomes important that there are distinctive ways to identify channels. There might be multiple channels with similar names, however, handles will be completely unique. This avoids confusion and also benefits creators and users.

Every channel will have a unique handle that can be used to find creators easily.  With the help of the handle, searching for a channel on the platform will become simple as the unique id will be exclusive to only one creator and their channel.

Handles will appear on channel pages and Shorts, so they’ll be instantly and consistently recognizable. It’ll soon be simpler and faster to mention each other in comments, community posts, video descriptions and more. For example, creators can be shouted out in a mention in comments or tagged in the title of a recent collab, helping them increase visibility and reach with new audiences” – YouTube

Creators will be notified to change their handles, and if the channel already possesses a personalized URL, that will automatically become their default handle. Creators can opt to change their handles through their YouTube studio. With the help of the handles, creators can redirect users from other platforms to their YouTube channel.
