Is Instagram changing for better or for worse?

Have you updated your Instagram recently? Many of you may have seen some changes and rushing onto the internet to find out what they are and why they have been made. We are here to explain the new Reel Instagram layout and why it may urge non-influencers, to become influencers.

With the rise and popularity of the new social media app TikTok, it saw an increase in the short videos that were being produced by millions of people on a daily basis. Other social media apps such as Instagram and YouTube then added new short-form video features such as YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels.

Instagram Reels has now taken over the app to gain more reach and more engagement to interact with a wider audience. Now, posts and Reels have come together as one on your main feed.

Instead of posts being the standard, normal size, your feed will increase and expand to look like how the Reels page looked, longer so you can see more of the image/post.

With TikTok inspiring Instagram with its short-form video content, Instagram may see the rise of content creators and influencers. Reels do require a little more effort than taking pictures and posting, but it does see higher levels of engagement with audiences and influencers getting more reach from Reels.
