What’s New, TikTok?
TikTok is expanding its ‘Series’ subscription option, allowing influencers and creators to paywall certain content, to give creators the opportunity to make more money on the platform.
With the ability to add up to 80 videos in each Series set (each up to 20 minutes long), Series allows content creators and influencers to post content behind a paywall, thereby enabling long-form content subscriptions within the app.

In the beginning, Series was only accessible to a small number of creators, but the social media giant has now tightened the criteria for who may sign up. Now, any influencer or creator over the age of 18 with more than 10,000 followers can activate the program, however, it is still subject to regional availability.
How Much?
Creators can charge anywhere between $1 to $190 for a membership to their Series content.
In some ways, it seems like the major platforms should be trying to lock up their top creators with exclusive content deals, but at the same time, allowing creators more freedom to monetize in various formats increases their earning potential and audience while also enhancing the content streams in the app.
What’s Good For TikTok?
By enabling creators to share (and re-share) long-form material via the app, Series might be a significant advancement to the app, in terms of its monetization techniques. As a result, content producers will have additional opportunities to increase audience reach and monetize their work.
It also adds another component to TikTok’s strategy, which is likely to increase its creator appeal.
