Twitter’s ‘Edit Tweet’ Feature
Twitter successfully tested its long-awaited and most demanded feature “Edit Tweet” last fall, finally adding the feature to Twitter Blue subscribers. Limiting the feature for blue subscribers and only allowing changes in original tweets within 30 minutes of posting, but now things are changing.
Twitter Blue account now says that the tweet editing window has been doubled to 60 minutes now. Twitter Blue subscribers (not all users of the platform) will now have more time to edit their tweets after posting.
The intention behind launching the ‘Edit tweet’ feature is to provide users with more opportunity and time to catch any potential errors. More time available to consider your tweets or to respond to feedback from followers brings a lot of opportunities for content creators.

Should it be extended beyond ‘Twitter Blue Users’
Twitter Blue subscribers used to get access to a blue verified checkmark label and character limit of up to 4000 characters among other things that they were paying for. Twitter officials couldn’t help but focus more on revamping the blue subscribers, after Elon’s takeover of the platform.
The rolling out of a new editing window with the ‘Edit Tweet’ feature could be perky, and bring more flexibility to the users making tweeting more handy, but the feature is only made available to Twitter Blue subscribers. Digging deeper into the statistics, Twitter Blue subscribers round up to less than 0.3% of Twitter’s total user base.
Some other Blue features like the 4000 characters limit were also expanded to 10,000 characters back in April. But again not all users were able to use these, only those who paid could make use of the feature.
Seems like not all users will have these expansions as yet, or the wording hasn’t been universally updated and even Twitter Blue subscribers aren’t aware. The constant updates and expansion from Twitter aren’t extended to everyone, and users see that as a problem. Even the user statistics suggest that these features should be available to all, to increase user experience.
Approach to Enhanced User Experience
With all the drama around creators on Twitch, YouTube, etc. a careful observation of various platforms on where they are going wrong (like revenue share, algorithm, demonetization, etc.) in terms of creating a great user experience for creators. And doing exactly the opposite to avoid replicating their mistakes could help Twitter.
👀 The Twitter team should carefully study what has been happening to creators on Youtube, Twitch etc. and set out to do the opposite (in terms of revenue share, demonetization, algorithym etc)

If done right there could be a creator exodus to this platform. pic.twitter.com/lVngPnEcKn
In an ongoing debate, Musk also tweeted, ” This platform will provide email addresses of subscribers (who opt-in) to content creators so that creators are able to leave this platform easily & take their subscribers with them if they want.”

We aren’t sure how to interpret the ‘Edit Tweet’ update, could it be an approach to help boost Twitter Blue take-up? Assuming that tweet editing will now seem like a major perk to users and a minor element within the broader offerings, luring more people to consider paying for Twitter Blue.
