Table of Contents
Elon Musk-run Twitter 2.0 is set to continue altering the platform with changing usage trends, bringing the in-development stage features to life with new and relatable names, and re-inventing the app to keep attracting new opportunities for the platform.
Twitter looks to continue following its re-animating trend by bringing new features to the table. Leveraging the current in-process advancements and framing them as new opportunities, the platform has recently retired the old name for its long-form content option, i.e., ‘Notes’ which is set to take flight once again, under a new name ‘articles’.
This will allow users to post very long, complex articles with mixed media. You could publish a book if you want.

Twitter’s new “articles” feature
Fausto Chou recently tweeted noticing the change in the name (as you can see in the picture), the current Notes section which was in the experimental stage has been renamed to ‘Articles’ in the app. As we know, Twitter is looking forward to more innovation, and re-inventing the long-form content options would be the first step.
Elon wanted the app to have an option for a longer form of content and the name that they originally had in mind when it was in the early development phase was ‘Notes’. It was back in February last year, before the eventual launch of Notes in June, but was then shelved a few months later when Musk took over the company.
The ‘Notes’ are silently renamed as ‘Articles’ to give them more context and also as a means to facilitate a broader range of content posting opportunities in the app.
About the ‘articles’ feature, more is yet to come but all we know from Musk’s tweets is that as of now the article feature won’t have any character limits. In order to allow users to post their long content pieces, and complex articles with mixed media without worrying about the character limits.
Have a look at how the feature will look in your timeline:

Is Twitter considering changing “followers” too?
We have also been witnessing a lot of polls on social media for the word ‘followers’ on Twitter, with questions like – What should followers be called, what do you think would be a better alternative for followers, and so on?
There has been rising speculation about whether the ‘followers’ name can also be replaced with a better and more engaging word to give it some context and Elon Musk cannot agree more to the fact. Looks like some more exciting new features and changes to the app are on their way.
For context, Elon is considering replacing the term follower. https://t.co/apUsuETEz2

Twitter usage rates are up by 3.5%, but what’s the reason?
Musk has been seen talking about the increase in the platform’s engagement rate and the benefits of having a Twitter Blue subscription. He recently revealed data based on which it could be concluded that the platform’s usage globally is up 3.5% week over week and it is a big win for the team.
He also gave a shoutout to the Twitter team, saying 99% of the content that users and advertisers see on the platform is considered healthy and under safety guidelines.

Introducing safety features for data scrapping and other potential security concerns, bringing new analytics features for everyone on the web, and announcing more new features, looks like Twitter can cross that barrier, and become the only app that users will need, facilitating a wide range of functionalities.
