Whatsapp announces new chat privacy Feature 2023

“Our passion is to find new ways to help keep your messages private and secure. We’re excited to bring to you a new feature we’re calling Chat Lock, which lets you protect your most intimate conversations behind one more layer of security,” says Mark Zuckerberg while announcing the feature.

What’s Chat Lock?

Chat Lock was a much-needed feature for people who have reasons to share their phones with family members and friends when someone is holding the phone and a special message arrives. Even at the workplace, during presentations when your phone is synced and a personal message pops up.

How good a lock would do for these people? Imagine the beauty of the fact that notifications from password-protected chats will not display any message content or even the sender. Great way to increase user experience and bring customized features for these aspects of instant communications.

How will it work?

Chat Lock can help you lock a chat by tapping the name of a one-to-one group and selecting the lock icon. To reveal these chats, you can slowly pull down your inbox and then enter your phone password or biometric.

Locking a chat takes that thread out of your inbox, puts it behind a folder named by you, and is fully password protected. Chat Lock feature also hides the contents of that chat in notifications too.

Now enjoy hassle-free instant messaging to your loved ones in a more private and secure manner with Chat Lock.

Chat Lock, A Way Forward!

The feature is announced for IOS and Android users.

Coming the next few months, we can expect Whatsapp to add more options or features to Chat Lock. Features like locking for companion devices and a custom password for chats, so users will be able to use different unique passwords for different chats and also different from your phone’s password or biometrics.
