The 10-year Visa is almost quite literally a golden ticket to long-term stability and the opportunity to grow your business and life in the country.
We had the opportunity to speak with EMKWAN to discern what exactly this means for him, his career and his future plans.
Congratulations on securing your Golden Visa! What does this mean for you?
A: Thank you. Oh my gosh, it means an incredible amount to me personally. I still remember coming to the UAE expecting to only be here for a short time. The Golden Visa makes me feel much more at ‘home’ now. I see it as a great honour too for which I’m incredibly grateful.
How does receiving your Golden Visa allow you to leverage your social media career?
A: Well, I feel as though the Golden Visa gives me more confidence in what I’m doing online. It helps to take a long-term view of what activities and content I’m focused on now.
You’ve done a fantastic job at becoming very influential in the field of tech content creation. Can you share with us, some of the tips to your success?
A: You’re too kind, I don’t think I’m a ‘success’ just yet but there’s still so much more that I can do for tech in the region. I think in any field, aiming for success is about striving to be and offering the best you can, for the audience. Staying relevant to audiences by valuing the time people are giving to view your content is important. Never to take it for granted. I think these are some of the core elements of success as a creator.
What can we expect next from EMKWAN?
A: Hopefully more tech and lifestyle content that actually helps people. I think it’s really important to open up some of the discussions and offer solutions on how to sustainably manage all this tech we find ourselves in nowadays. How it’s impacting our relationships with ourselves and each other.
I also want to experiment with more content that bridges the gap between tech and lifestyle. So that should be fun. Watch the space.
What’s your secret to keeping inspired with the content you produce and share?
A: I think the tech field, by it’s very nature, helps keep you fresh. There are constant updates and changes from smartphones to Crypto… if anything, I feel like I have too much to cover and not enough time. It’s a good problem to have I guess.

What is the Golden Visa?
Introduced in 2019, The United Arab Emirates implemented a new amendment that provides long-term residencies to attract foreign investors into the country (without the need of a sponsor).
The length of these residence visa permits are either 5 years or 10 years and are reviewed once again after the decided length to evaluate if someone is still eligible to renew the conditions.
The Golden Visa is given to certain entrepreuners, researchers, students, medical and creative professionals who portray specialized talent or invest a certain amount monetary wise in real estate or in an established public company in the country.
How can I apply for one?
Applicants looking to request to be nominated should enter their interest on UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship.
If you are eligible under one of the categories, but have not been nominated yet, then you should apply on the box labelled ‘Visa – Golden Visa – Nomination Request For Golden Residence – New Request’.
You are directed to an online form, which requests your personal details, and asks you to select the category under which you believe you can be nominated.
It takes typically 30 days to receive an email back to conclude as to whether or not you have been nominated for the Golden Visa.
