According to the NCEMA, here are the COVID-19 guidelines for Ramadan 2022:
- Entities would be required to obtain permits to set up Iftar tents from Emirates Red Crescent (ERC).
- Local committees and NCEMA teams (for each Emirate) will be in charge of granting approval or rejecting the establishment of any Iftar tents. Additionally, they will be responsible for deciding the number of people allowed in each tent in coordination with ERC.
- Iftar tents must be designed in a canopy layout that is open from all sides or be air-conditioned.
- All the required safety and protection systems against COVID-19 must be incorporated including avoiding handshakes during greetings.
- Tent capacity shall be determined by the local committees and teams of each emirate, with the participants to remain at least 1 metre apart.
- Security guards or volunteers must be provided to organise the entry and exit process.
- Awareness posters must be placed at all entrances and exits.
- Iftar tents should be opened two hours before the time of Iftar to avoid congestion.
- A Green Pass on the Al Hosn app is required to enter Iftar tents.
- Iftar tent organisers must provide masks and sterilisation tools to adhere to all precautionary and preventive measures against COVID-19, which includes wearing a mask, maintaining physical distance and sanitising hands.
- Organisers must use disposable table covers and disposable plates, cups and spoons for everyone.
