‘Euphoria’, created by Sam Levinson is a teen drama series about high-school students navigating through love, drugs, identity and much more, that quickly became a fan favorite! After its premiere on HBO in June 2019, it went on to receive six nominations, which included only one dedicated to acting which was received by Zendaya.
Along with Zendaya’s win for lead actress in the show, Euphoria also took home two Emmy’s for ‘Outstanding Contemporary Makeup’ (Non Prosthetic) and ‘Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics’.
Fans were extremely happy for Zendaya ever since she got nominated for an Emmy, and now that she is taking home an award for her outstanding performance in HBO’s Euphoria, fans believe it to be well-deserved!
The actress was surrounded by her family and team members who were emotional but incredibly happy as she received the historic news! “This is pretty crazy”, Zendaya said as she clasped her hands in pure disbelief.
Zendaya served style and glamour virtually as she accepted her award in a two-piece number by Armani Prive. Wearing a polka dot maxi skirt with an embellished cropped halter bodice along with her hair in a vintage inspired bouffant and completed with a bold ‘60s-esque liner, the actress absolutely illuminated beauty and elegance!
Although the actress was visibly taken back with her incredible win, she gracefully managed to deliver a very genuine and sentimental speech where she expressed her hope for the coming generation to take action and shape the world to be a better place.
“I just want to say thank you to the TV academy and to all of the other incredible women in this category. I admire you all so much, this is pretty crazy. I don’t really cry.”, expressed the actress. “Thank you, HBO, and A24 for all your support. Thank you to my family and my team who’s all here. I’m really grateful to have all of you here. To the incredible cast and crew of Euphoria, I’m so lucky to go to work with you every day and I’m inspired by everything you do.”
She continues, “And to Sam Levinson, I appreciate you so much. I’m so grateful for Rue. I’m so grateful that you trust me with your story and I hope I can continue to do you proud.”
