Pre-plan your posts with Instagram’s new Post Scheduling tool for professional accounts

Read all the latest news as Instagram officially rolls out a new in-app Post Scheduling feature for creators to pre-plan creative content and campaigns.

Post scheduling

Scheduling your posts ahead of time has never been a more in-demand request from professional accounts and we are glad to say that Instagram has answered our prayers. As of yesterday, Instagram rolled out its new in-app Post Scheduling tools to all professional accounts in the app, after testing the susceptibility of the feature out with selected users over the past few weeks.

How would Post Scheduling work?

As you can see in this overview, Instagram’s new Post Scheduling option will enable you to schedule photos, carousels, and Reels direct in the app, up to 75 days in advance.

You’ll be able to schedule Reels by:

  • In the creation flow, tap ‘Advanced Settings’ before sharing the post
  • Tap ‘Schedule this post’
  • Select the time and date you want it to go live
  • Tap ‘Schedule’ in the post composer

What are the benefits of pre-planning posts?

In an effort to help creators and businesses better organize their time management, the ability to pre-plan posts enables users to free up more time for content creation instead of curating captions, and tags for perfecting posts at the moment. This will allow users to remain active while incognito in real-life, meaning their accounts will run in-real time posts during hours when users are active but the posts could be scheduled the night or even 75 days in advance.

Like setting reminders on your phone or alarms to wake up in the morning, the ability to now manage multiple campaigns, sponsorships, and paid posts with specific detail that are vital in directing the traffic and engagement to the correct channels can be doubled, if not triple checked to ensure even the smallest details have been perfected.

Nevertheless, the ability to work in advance enables creators to take on more and work during the hours of their liking. Post scheduling can even help to pre-plan how your feed would look and if a post that is paid falls through the mat, then luckily you can delete it before it went public.

It allows for a finer eye for details and as a result increase, the quality of professional accounts work.

As noted, Instagram’s been testing the option over the last few weeks, with a live test spotted mid-last month.

Functionally, this doesn’t add anything new as you’ve been able to schedule posts via Creator Studio since 2020. But it could make it easier to manage your content on the go, while the capacity to schedule Reels, in particular, could help you maximize your content performance.

Based on Instagram’s messaging, it’ll only be available to Professional Accounts at this stage, though anyone can switch to a Professional Account in the app by toggling the option in your account settings.

Instagram says that the option rolled out yesterday at the end of the day GMT, so if you don’t have it yet, it would shortly be available to all.
