This is your step-by-step guide on an early morning routine and why it will benefit you

7 step morning routine from Pinterest

Are you looking for the perfect morning routine but still haven’t found it? Whether or not you’re busy in your day-to-day life, it’s important to have an early morning routine to structure your day. Your mood in the morning will set you off for the rest of the day and therefore you need to ensure you’re giving yourself “positive vibes only.”

Pinterest not only has the best aesthetics to get some inspiration for your morning routine but there is a lot of helpful advice on there. Some of these steps you will find in books like 5 am Club by Robin Sharma, or you might have even heard it on podcasts. If you begin this 7-step morning routine now, your days will get better instantly – it’s all about changing your mindset and being disciplined.

5 am club

If you have read the book 5 am club by Robin Sharma, you have learned that every leader who has lived wakes up early (5 am), to start their day. Having followed this routine of waking up early, I have noticed a dramatic difference in my energy levels.

It may be a struggle in the beginning, but if you keep doing it and make it a routine, then you’ll soon wake up naturally. What’s your motivation for waking up early when everyone else is sleeping and it’s dark outside, or your bed is too cozy? Yes, we have all had these thoughts in our head, however, waking up when the sun wakes up will give you more time during the day, and as I said before, gives you a lot more positive energy throughout the day. But waking up at 5 am isn’t all you have to do.

Making your bed feels like you’ve already accomplished a task for the day. In a podcast I have listened to, I remember the host saying making your bed is the first step to a successful day. Even if you haven’t managed to achieve anything for the rest of the day, at least you have made your bed and it’s something you have completed. Making your bed should be a natural routine for you and it’s something you can look forward to jumping into in the evening. Try it and see how you feel.

Shower your problems away

After you’ve woken up and made the bed, it’s time to shower. You can leave your shower till after you workout, or you can do it immediately after waking. To shock your body into feeling alive and awake, shower with cold water instead of warm water as warm water could make you feel sleepy. Cold water wakes the body up and instantly makes you feel ready for the day!

According to WebMD, cold showers can help reduce inflammation, relieve pain, improve circulation, lower stress levels, and reduce muscle soreness and fatigue. Hot showers on the other hand can soothe stiff joints, and improve sleep.

Mindfulness meditation

Meditation is hard for some people. I once had a conversation with a family member who told me that meditation comes in different forms. One person may be able to sit and meditate on sounds, while others may find meditation in dance and movement.

While dancing may be a great form of meditation, it’s not something I would want to do early in the morning. Instead, guided meditation works really well for beginners. With guided meditation, you can listen to a voice that will help you through the meditation process, letting you go deeper within yourself.

Positive affirmations are also a great form of meditation and if you believe in manifestation or the law of attraction, then positive affirmations are a must in the morning. You become more focused and aware, and it boosts your mood when saying certain affirmations out loud. If you’ve been wanting a job for a long time, then ask and you shall receive. The more positive energy you put out and ask for, the more you will get back. Have a glass of water before or while you meditate – lemon water is great to detoxify your body.

Journal your thoughts

If you are feeling stressed, then write everything down in a journal. You can either get a notepad and pen or actually buy a journal to jot your ideas or thoughts. Journaling is a great way to organize your thoughts and to clear your mind. Think of it like this – you want to your journal hold your thoughts rather than you so you can enjoy your morning. Come back to it later when you’re ready to work on it but otherwise move them to the side like clouds in your head – acknowledge them and move them along.

Move your body

Once you’ve written everything down, get up and start moving. Shock your body again by getting your heart rate up with either some yoga, pilates or a full-body workout. By getting a workout done in the morning, you can enjoy the rest of your day. You can go to work, or content create, then have the rest of the day to relax and enjoy your time rather than getting stuck in a busy gym at peak time. Working out in the morning has many physical and mental health benefits as well as giving you a lot of energy throughout the day.

Nourish your gut

Have you heard of the saying “Healthy guy, healthy you” or when you have a gut feeling about something? A healthy gut is important to a healthy or “balanced” diet as it stores important energy in your body. When you eat a burger, how do you feel after? Heavy? Tired? Nourish your gut and body with good food, you will thank your body later!

Book of the day

The last step to your morning routine is reading a good book. You must have heard people saying don’t look at your phone when you wake up, and it’s true, you shouldn’t. In his recent documentary, influencer and boxer Jake Paul said he doesn’t look at his phone for the first half an hour of his morning. He said that your mind is subconsciously taking in everything, all the news stories or negative stories that you read which affects the rest of your day.

A good book that is motivational or encouraging will fill your mind and body with positive energy. It will also open your mind to think about things in a different way or try new things that you didn’t think of trying before. Some books you can read are Rich Dad Poor Dad, 5 am Club, or Ikigai.

Remember, the beginning is always the hardest but if you keep at it, the routine will become easier. Tag us in your posts if you’re documenting your morning (phone on flight mode), and let us know how you felt!
