Generative AI goes viral
Over the course of the summer of 2023, TikTok user @walidfatam went viral for using a “Photoshop generative AI fill” tool to expand fan-favorite album covers. His videos gained over millions of views overnight, leaving many users to request even more artists.
His most popular video is a Photoshop Generative Fill done with AI on Taylor Swift album covers.

He even has a series on TikTok titled “If movies were filmed vertically”. In this case, he uses Photoshop’s AI tool to expand existing movie scenes at the top and bottom. His most viral TikTok in the series is for Harry Potter. The video has since generated 4.8 million views.

Other users also caught up with the trend and made their own generative fills. TikTok user @pictelate took a more humorous approach and showed inaccuracies that can be made with generative AI. His short-form but witty videos received over 1 million views.

The same generative AI model was initially available only on the beta versions of Adobe’s applications. They have now expanded the tool for commercial use all across Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
Adobe expands tool for global availability
Following several months of beta testing, Adobe has announced that its Firefly generative AI model is now commercially available across Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Express, and Adobe Experience Cloud.
That means Firefly-powered workflows that have so far been limited to the beta versions of Adobe’s apps, including Illustrator’s vector recoloring, and Photoshop’s Generative Fill tools, are now generally available to most users.
However, Adobe is also launching a standalone Firefly web app that will allow users to explore some of its capabilities without having to subscribe to specific Adobe Creative Cloud. This means beginners who may have difficulty using such applications can try the web app just to check it out. However, a release date is yet to be revealed.
