Haven’t updated your phone software in a while? ITS time to if you want to continue using WhatsApp.
WhatsApp will stop working on Windows Phone after December 31, 2019, app also ends Android 2.3.7 and iPhone iOS 8 support from February, as reported on DailyMail.
The Facebook-owned company says it is focusing efforts on ‘the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use’
WhatsApp stated in a report in DailyMail ‘…because we no longer actively develop for these operating systems, some features might stop functioning at any time’.
According to Gulf News, WhatsApp claimes ‘…This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp.’
To figure out if you will be able to use WhatsApp on your iPhone or Android phone after February, you’ll need to check which operating system your phone uses.
• If you have an iPhone, check your phone’s operating system by going to Settings > Apple ID > Your iPhone. The version your phone uses will be listed under ‘Device info’. If the version is listed as iOS 9 or later, it will still be supported after 1 February.
• If you have an Android phone, check its operating system by going to Settings > About Phone/About Device > Android Version. If the version is listed as OS 4.0.3 or later, it will still be supported after 1 February.
