What Is Live Shopping?
Live shopping, or live streaming, leverages current technology trends to connect with consumers who prioritize following individuals on social media over brands. Unlike the belief held by many businesses that merely placing marketing materials online will generate instant purchases, live shopping acknowledges that creators engage with their fans.
When these creators recommend products during live streams, it often sparks greater interest among viewers than direct marketing efforts by brands.
Consequently, some brands have realized the value of partnering with live shopping influencers to expand their consumer base and boost product sales.
Live shopping can be visualized as a modern version of the Home Shopping Network or The Shopping Channel, streamed directly on your mobile phone, tablet, or computer. It predominantly takes place on social media platforms, embodying the concept of social commerce.
Where Can You Find It?
Popular platforms for live shopping streaming include Facebook Live, Instagram Live, Twitch, YouTube Live, TikTok, and Amazon Live. During live shopping streams, viewers can engage with the content in multiple ways, including:
- Video stream: Influencers or brand representatives showcase the product to the audience.
- Chat functionality: Users can ask questions and interact with the presenters in real time.
- Real-time purchase links: Viewers have the option to directly purchase the product being showcased during the live stream.
