Video fans, pay attention: Instagram is getting a new feature and you’re probably going to love it.
Everyone’s favourite photo- and story-sharing app is planning on tapping into the video-sharing market in the near future.
According to TechCrunch, “Instagram will offer a dedicated space featuring scripted shows, music videos and more in vertically oriented, full-screen, high-def 4K resolution. Instagram has been meeting with popular social media stars and content publishers to find out how their video channels elsewhere would work within its app.”
But wait . . . what does this mean for Insta-fans and influencers?
Your average Instagram user can expect to see long-form video content within the platform very soon. Think something along the lines of YouTube videos or Snapchat’s Discovery feature.
It also means our favourite Insta-influencers might be tempted to join in, resulting in more content for everyone to enjoy.
TechCrunch has said that “multiple sources” have revealed that Instagram will allow its creators to earn income off their videos, but it has yet to finalize any related details (i.e. ad placements within videos, revenue splits, etc.)
While we have yet to find out when this new feature will be rolled out, it just goes to show how important video content is in 2018.Â
Keep your eyes on Instagram, video fans.
