YOUTUBE IS WORKING ON A NEW VIDEO TOOL WHICH WILL RIVAL TIKTOK

YouTube is planning to release a rival to TikTok, the hugely popular video-sharing app, by the end of the year, accordingly to Social Media Today.

YouTube is currently planning to release Shorts, its own version made to compete withTikTok, as a feature inside its existing mobile app.

Shorts will include a feed of short videos which users will be able to access easily on the app.

An advantage of this feature is that users will be able to benefit from Youtube’s extensive range of licensed music which will be available to users for content creation purposes on the app.

Social Media Today highlights, “YouTube also has a huge user base, with over 2 billion people using the app each month. That’s significantly more than TikTok, which currently has an estimated 300 million MAU outside of China (where, incidentally, YouTube is blocked.”

For Youtube influencers who may be hesitant to redirect followers to another app, this feature would be the key in offering shorter videos while retaining viewership on their existing pages.

Youtube has not released an official launch date however Social Media Today states that the app could be ready to roll out the feature by the end of the year.

Do you think Youtube’s answer to shorter video content will ultimately rival TikTok?
