Ice cube trays are a staple item for most kitchens but have you ever stopped to think whether you’re using it correctly?
As it turns out, many of us use the same technique to fill the trays. You just fill one half of it and then turn the tray side to side in an attempt to get the water evenly distrubuted. The result? We end up unnecessarily splashing the water EVERYWHERE.
One TikTok user recently showcased a revelation that may just change the ice-making game forever.

In the video, TikTok user @4jmjcbitxh holds up a standard ice cube tray to the running faucet and, instead of moving the tray from side to side to fill up the wells, she lets the water stream run onto one of the flat areas of the tray. Instead of splashing all over the place, the water runs neatly (and evenly) into the four cube molds that it connects.
The video has now gone viral and garnered over 400,000 views on the app.
The video has become a mind-blowing revelation to most with one user commenting,“I was today years old when I learned this.”
Another TikTok follower joked, “I pay $40k a year for college, yet I learn so much more from TikTok.”
TikTok has definitely become the go-to platform for life hacks and real advice, whether it’s learning the latest dance or a new recipe.
