Calling all brands on Facebook…
Facebook is introducing a new, dedicated group notifications space in the app’s sidebar, including more options for smaller discussions within specific group spaces.
More details on the new update
The platform is trialing a listing of the groups you are a member of which, that will be accessible by swiping right from your main Facebook News feed.
The sidebar showcase will include options for group engagement, such as the ability to pin your favorite groups, explore new groups and ultimately create your own via the prompts.
Additionally, there will also be links to various events, shops and other resources, therefore making it much more straightfroward and simple to participate in each groups.
According to reports, Facebook engagement has dropped dramatically, especially among the young audiences, while TikTok interaction has increased.
With these new intiatives in testing, hopefully they will lead to higher user engagement rates on the platform.
Furthermore, Facebook is introducing new, sub-group engagement possibilities, including Community Chat Channels, audio rooms and topic threads within groups.
These Community Chat Channels will allow users of Facebook Groups and Messenger to communicate with one another in real time.
Developing yet another way of encouraging various forms of interaction with the Groups setting.
As per Facebook, Community Audio Channels differ from Live Audio Rooms in that they are a ‘always-on space’ that people can make, where admins and members can jump in and out of live conversations.
Lastly, the social network site is adding Community Feed Channels, giving members a way to highlight more specifically relevant group discussions.
They state:
“Admins can organize their communities around topics within the group for members to connect around more specific interests. For example, if you’re in a BBQ lovers group, there could be a feed channel where you can post and comment on the topic of smokers.”
Although these new additions are unlikely to skyrocket engagement levels on Facebook, they are positive initiatives towards creating spaces for like-minded people that can encourage meaningful conversations.
Moreover, they may potentially also generate greater engagement rates than normal feed posts on the platform.
