Lifestyle influencer Katylee Bailey was scrutinised over her recent TikTok video of owning her own home in the UK at age 21. As the housing crisis continues to have a negative effect on thousands, if not millions of people around the UK, those who are in full-time jobs and work extra hours are still unable to afford to pay off their mortgage or pay their rent.

After reading the comments on her celebration video, Katylee uploaded another video, this time in tears. The influencer apologised for uploading a video, celebrating her achievements whilst others were struggling to afford the smallest things or knowing they had years to pay off their finances. She expressed how she feels “lucky” and “grateful” for where she is and what she has been able to do but understands what other’s are going through.

It’s a full-time job

Many people are still adapting to and understanding the world of influencer marketing. Becoming an influencer reaps many benefits, however, there are also downfalls with people online and who work many hours not realising the time and effort that influencers put into their job. Without online creators, there would be no entertaining or informative content to watch. As well as the “glitz and glam” is hard work, rejections, and public negativity with online trolling or comparison to others.
