About the game
For those who have been deprived of playing the game, The Legend of Zelda is set in The Kingdom of Hyrule. Three heroes must come together to battle a witch who is known as The Lady, and who cast a curse on the Princess of Hytopia. A young boy named Link must travel to Death Mountain to defeat the monster named Ganon to restore peace and harmony to the Kingdom of Hyrule.
The theme of the game is based on action and adventure and is inspired by the Japanese hillsides, green forests, and wonderous caves. The game is Nintendo’s most successful franchise after Super Mario with the game selling around 150 million copies since its release in 1986.
The latest series The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, sold 10 million copies in just three days when it was released last May, making it the fastest-selling Zelda game in history.
Legend of Zelda: The Movie
Video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad will be co-producing with The Maze Runner’s Wes Ball who will be directing the movie. Although no one has been introduced to the cast of the movie yet or the plot of the film, Nintendo’s Japanese account on X revealed some interesting revelations about the film.
Mr. Miyamoto said he has been working on the film with Arad for some time and that the film is in development with Nintendo heavily involved in the production. ‘It will take time until its completion, but I hope you look forward to seeing it’ he wrote to fans of the game.
Entering into the new realm
This concept enters into a new realm of movies as it combines games and live action together. Just like we have seen popular books turn into movies like Harry Potter being the most popular franchise that everyone knows, now it’s time for the gaming industry to have their push onto the big screen.
Nintendo did however have a successful outcome with the Super Mario Bros Movie which was released earlier this year. The movie generated the highest-grossing animated film of all time with it reaching over $1 billion at the box office. Other films like Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog starring famous actor Jim Carrey, and Pokemon have also had a popular response in the cinemas and at home with young children and families.
Only time will tell how successful the film will be but with the right balance of action and adventure, the movie will be a hit.
