Adobe launches Photoshop on the web
Photoshop is finally available as part of all Adobe’s paid plans on the web. It’s two years in the making. The app on the web provides many of the tools found in the desktop version but with a streamlined layout for new users.
Adobe has made it easier to navigate its tools by grouping those with similar workflows, such as object selection and image retouching. Experienced creatives who prefer the desktop version of the app’s user interface can disable this grouping.
Some tools are still missing. But Adobe plans to add desktop features, including the patch tool, pen tool, smart object support, and polygonal lasso, to the mobile version of the software in the near future.
According to Ashley Still, the senior vice president of digital media at Adobe, the company has no plans to offer a freemium version of the web application, despite previous announcements that they would launch a free version with most of the core desktop functions.
Viral AI tools are also available
Additionally, the company is launching the popular Generative Fill and Generative Expand tools that were recently released for the desktop version. The same tool went viral on TikTok over the summer, when a user expanded fan-favorite album covers with the help of the generative fill AI.

Adobe’s Firefly generative AI model allows users to effortlessly modify their images by adding or removing elements and expanding them using text-based descriptions in over 100 languages. Additionally, these features are commercially available, and guarantee the original image’s lighting conditions and perspective are preserved.
The tool can be used for personal or business use, and after some tweaking and updates, will work like a charm, even on the web version.
