The forthcoming boxing battle between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson is rife with intrigue. Mike Tyson is 57 years old, but he remains one of the most fearsome fighters in combat sports. Sure, Jake Paul is a former YouTuber, but he appears to be taking his boxing career seriously, as proven by his ability to force a split decision over Tommy Fury.
With each new piece of information released about the fight, a slew of new thoughts and predictions arise from fans eager to discover if Tyson still has gas in the tank. However, the most exciting component of the fight is arguably the rules that are being established.
Rumors have circulated continuously since the battle was announced. It’s difficult to know what’s real and what’s not. Will headgear be used? Will Jake’s brother, Logan, become involved? Will this be an official match or an exhibition? Conflicting reports are appearing left and right, but thankfully, we have answers.
The following are the official rules and odds for the bout between “The Problem Child” and “Iron Mike.”
Will the fight be an exhibition or a genuine match?
Although the bout has not yet been officially designated, reports indicate that it is likely to be an exhibition. According to Josh Peter of USA Today, San Antonio boxing promoter Cameron Davies claims to have “spoken to a key member of the Texas Combatants Sports staff and is ’99 percent’ certain the Tyson-Paul fight will be classified as an exhibition.”
The anticipation is that Holden Boxing will call an official pro fight. However, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations will make the final decision on whether this is an exhibition or a sanctioned bout. Tela Mange, their communications manager, stated, “The promoter will need to submit proposed cards before we determine whether a specific contest would be considered an exhibition or a professional fight, or how a proposed exhibition might be structured.”
When is the fight expected to be?
Holden Boxing LLC has requested the fight to be on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
