Justin Bieber Shocks Fans As He Reveals Facial Paralysis on Instagram

Justin Bieber has revealed that he was infected with a virus that temporarily paralyzed half of his face.

Famous singer, Justin Bieber, has been through a large ordeal with health battles over the years.

Yesterday, the singer posted a 3 minute video on his Instagram page which has reached over 27 million views, revealing that he has been suffering with a rare syndrome Ramsay Hunt.

What is the illness Justin Bieber is suffering?

As described by on Google:

Ramsay Hunt syndrome (herpes zoster oticus) occurs when a shingles outbreak affects the facial nerve near one of your ears. In addition to the painful shingles rash, Ramsay Hunt syndrome can cause facial paralysis and hearing loss in the affected ear.

Ramsay Hunt syndrome is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox. After chickenpox clears up, the virus still lives in your nerves. Years later, it may reactivate. When it does, it can affect your facial nerves.

Forcing Justin to cancel his shows

Within the video, the pop singer tries to smile, blink and move his face for viewers to see, however one side remains motionless while he speaks.

This sudden illness has recently forced Bieber to cancel dates in his upcoming North America tour.

He states:

“As you can see this eye is not blinking, I can’t smile on this side of my face.

It’s pretty serious, I wish this wasn’t the case but obviously, my body’s telling me I gotta slow down.

I hope you guys understand, and I’ll be using this time to just rest and relax and get back to 100% so I can do what I was born to do.

But in the meantime, this ain’t it.”

Within the clip, that has received an outpour of love from other famous celebrities including Justin Timberlake, The Beckhams and more, he disclosed that he is currently undergoing some treatment and facial excersizes to regain mobility in his face.

“We don’t know how much time it is going to be but it’s going to be okay”.

The singer has also in the past suffered and was diagnosed with Lyme Disease, an incurable disease causing severe illness spread by ticks.
