Introducing Instagram Stories Archive and Stories Highlights!

How to keep your Instagram Stories Around for 24+ Hours!

Hate that your Instagram stories disappear after twenty-four hours? Here’s how to keep them around for 24+ hours!

Within the past few years, Instagram launched two new features that allow users to keep their favorite stories on Instagram after they’ve expired. Pretty cool, right? (But not as cool as watching someone’s Instagram Stories without getting them knowing about it. Want to know how to creep someone’s Stories without getting caught? Check it out here.)

With so many brands, influencers and Stories fans alike putting tons of effort into curating the perfect Insta story, it only makes sense that users can now keep their snaps and videos around for as long as they want.

Overall, what does this mean? No more scrambling to save Stories onto your phone, before they expire!

Instagram will now take care of that for you with these two features…

What you need to know about Stories archive and Stories highlights

Stories will now automatically be saved as archives after they’ve expired under Stories Archive. Users will also be able to showcase the highlights of their stories on their profile as Stories Highlights.

Don’t worry, Stories Archive is private and your old stories will only be viewable by your followers, should you choose to “repost” them as a Stories Highlights on your profile.

So… how do these new features work? It’s pretty straight forward and we get into it below.

Make Life Easy With Stories Archive.

Now after twenty-four hours, your stories will no longer disappear. They will simply be saved under Stories Archive in the Instagram app.

To access this feature, users can tap the archive icon button on their profile. Old stories will appear in grid format and categorized by date, with the most recently-expired stories at the bottom of the archive feed. Users can then tap on any of their previous stories, to view them. From there, they can re-add it to their current Instagram stories, share it as a post or add it to a highlight on their profile.

Your phone’s storage space will thank you later.

Which bring us to Instagram’s second new feature, Stories Highlights.

Highlights of your old Instagram Stories will now appear just below your profile’s bio.

To create a highlight, tap the “New” circle at the far left. From there, you can choose any stories from your archive, select a cover for your highlight and give it a name. Once you’re finished, your highlight will appear as a circle on your profile that plays as a stand-alone story when someone taps it.
